11th seed Gerwyn Price is up against unseeded Josh Rock in the quarter-finals of the World Matchplay Darts. 'The Iceman' avoided any nasty confrontations with his opponent in the last round and Price will hope to do so again here. Time for our match prediction.
This quarter-final is being played over the best of 31 legs. Whoever wins this match will take on either second seed Luke Littler or unseeded Andrew Gilding in the last four.
Price has been in good form so far in this tournament. Round one saw him defeat Daryl Gurney in a heated match. The Welshman followed that up with a dominant 11-3 victory over Chris Dobey who was seeded five places ahead of him.
What was even more impressive was the fact Price averaged 108.73 in that match, improving on his 100.21 in round one. Price will have been delighted with his 73.33% checkout percentage against Dobey.
Josh Rock was part of the Northern Ireland team that won the World Cup of Darts title this year. In the final, they beat Wales and Rock will hope for more success in Blackpool. This week has seen him beat Ross Smith 10-5 and Michael van Gerwen 13-11.
He averaged 95.13 against Van Gerwen, below the 104.22 against Smith,.We tip Price to win this.
