Gerwyn Price vs Johnny Tata Prediction & Betting Tips - New Zealand Darts Masters

Gerwyn Price and Johnny Tata will meet in the first round of the 2025 New Zealand Darts Masters on Friday morning (GMT). The winner of this match between The Iceman and JT will move on to face either Josh Rock or John Hurring in the next round. Check out our match prediction below. 

Gerwyn Price will be looking to build up some momentum heading to the World Series of Darts finals at the AFAS in Amsterdam between September 12-14.

The Iceman made light work of Joe Comito last week in his opening match in Australia, beating the local hero 6-3, but he then suffered a 6-4 defeat to fellow PDC elite player, Chris Dobey. 

Despite that, the Iceman still possesses one of the most impressive recent records on the circuit with 16 wins and just four losses in his last 20 matches across all competitions. His only defeats last month were against Josh Rock and Dobey. 

Meanwhile, Johnny Tata certainly gained a few fans last week in Australia when he more than held his own against world number one Luke Humphries in the opening round of the competition. 

While he eventually lost the match 6-3, JT pinned one 180, managed a 50% checkout rate, and recorded a highest checkout of 120. The latter two stats were higher than Humphries’ in that match.  

Unlike most local representatives in the World Series, Tata has a solid resume on the televised circuit. He lost 6-3 to Luke Littler last year at this event and beat Peter Wright by the same scoreline here 12 months earlier.
