Saturday in the K-League sees champions Jeonbuk Motors hit the road to take on Gangwon. Travelling with a perfect record, Jeonbuk are top of the table. Gangwon, meanwhile, have a record of ones across the board, dabbling in wins, draws and losses, and are currently in seventh place. Finishing sixth in the 2019 league season, Gangwon are gravitating around their expected rank. So far, no surprises. That's standard fare when it comes to games between Gangwon and Jeonbuk. Gangwon have home advantage but they have failed to make home advantage count in their last ten attempts against Jeonbuk. It's a slight mismatch but Gangwon did pick up a 1-0 win at Jeonbuk last year so it's not entirely one-way traffic. It was Jeonbuk's defensive record last season that ultimately secured them top spot. We see that backline being as important this time around too. Jeonbuk have not scored more than two goals in a match yet this season and we don't necessarily see them blowing Gangwon away.
What seems extremely likely to happen is that Gangwon will concede at least one goal. They haven't kept a clean sheet in their last 12 matches. Furthermore, they have conceded at least one goal in their last ten home games against Jeonbuk. We think Jeonbuk will get ahead and that's the way it will stay. The last nine games that Gangwon have played featured at least one first-half goal. Only one of Jeonbuk's four goals has been scored in the opening half but we see that changing here. Back Jeonbuk to win both halves.
