Gael Monfils squeezed past his first-round clash at Roland Garros to set up a clash against Jack Draper. It is their first meeting since facing off in Montreal three years ago, and the winner here will meet Joao Fonseca or Pierre-Hugues Herbert. Below we have a prediction for this match.

Monfils seemed dead and buried after losing the opening two sets against Hugo Dellien. He was sliding towards a third straight loss but recovered in time to win three sets.

In what was the first meeting between these two, Monfils had to retire after the opening set in Montreal in 2022. In his last 12 matches on clay, Monfils managed just four wins.

Draper is among the in-form players at the moment, but he has had some shaky spells in recent matches. After his quarterfinal loss to Carlos Alcaraz at the Rome Masters, he recovered with a first-round win at Roland Garros.

The Briton had to come from a set down to beat Mattia Bellucci in the opening round. It was the fourth time in six matches that the British No. 1 dropped at least a set.
