Mexican Grand Prix Predictions & Betting tips - Formule 1
by Devesh Jaganath |
We head to the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez circuit for the 2025 Mexican Grand Prix on Sunday. Oscar Piastri leads the driver standings with 346 points, 14 ahead of his teammate Lando Norris in second, while Max Verstappen is in third with 306 points. Let’s get into the race prediction.
With five races to go to the end of the season, the question on everyone’s lips heading to Mexico City this week is whether championship leader Oscar Piastri will fluff his lines.
The Aussie had yet another disappointing qualifying session, only managing P8, but he will start the Mexican Grand Prix in seventh, with Carlos Sainz receiving a five-place grid penalty.
Pole went to Lando Norris in the second McLaren, and with just 14 points separating the Brit from his teammate, this weekend could prove pivotal in the race for the driver's championship.
Adding to Norris’ joy was seeing Max Verstappen only manage fifth place. Notably, no driver has won the Mexican Grand Prix after starting outside the top three since 1990.
Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc will join Norris on the first row after finishing 0.262 seconds behind the Papaya driver, while Lewis Hamilton had an impressive final qualifying session to claim third.
George Russel will line up alongside Verstappen, while Kimi Antonelli picked up sixth. Isack Hadjar, Oliver Bearman and Yuki Tsunoda clinched P8 - P10, respectively.

Our Mexican Grand Prix - Formule 1 prediction
Oscar Piastri will be sweating bullets heading to Mexico City this weekend. Over the past month, the Aussie has gone from leading the championship standings by a huge margin to now being at risk of being knocked off top spot this week.
Drivers who have qualified in the top three for the Mexican Grand Prix over the past two decades have enjoyed significant success, and we like the looks of Charles Leclerc notching up a spot on the podium on Sunday. Our Mexican Grand Prix prediction is Charles Leclerc podium finish.
