Azerbaijan Grand Prix Predictions & Betting tips - Formula 1

Round 17 of the 2024 Formula 1 season heads to the Baku City Circuit for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix on Sunday afternoon. 

Max Verstappen is still leading the 2024 F1 Driver Standings with 303 points, followed by Lando Norris in second on 241 points, and Charles Leclerc in third with 217 points. 

Charles Leclerc’s love affair with the Baku street circuit continued on Saturday, with the Ferrari driver securing his fourth consecutive pole position in qualifying with a time of 1:41.365s. The Monacan driver is fresh off a victory at the Italian Grand Prix last time out.

McLaren continued their excellent season with Oscar Piastri finishing behind Leclerc in P2 with a time of 1:41.686s, while P3 went to the second Ferrari piloted by Carlos Sainz, who clocked an impressive 1:41.805s, almost two full seconds faster than the 1:43.357s he managed in Q1.

Lando Norris, who is having the season of his life, suffered a shock Q1 exit and pulled out of his final qualifying lap. The Brit will start the Azerbaijan Grand Prix down in P17. 

At long last, Sergio Perez finally managed to put up a proper qualifying run and was good enough for P4, ahead of George Russell and Red Bull teammate Max Verstappen, who was uncharacteristically slow, posting a time of 1:42.023s. 

Even slower, though, was the Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton in P7, while Williams’ new boy Franco Colapinto and teammate Alexander Albon rounded out the top 10 behind Fernando Alonso in P8.
