A lack of cutting edge proved costly for Ukraine's Polissya Zhytomyr as they went down to a 3-0 home defeat to Serie A's Fiorentina in the first leg of their Conference League Playoff match. Despite 20 shots on goal, Polissya could only hit three on target, the same amount as I Viola, who took all three of those chances to take a likely unassailable lead into the second leg in Florence this week. After three league games, Polissya lie in tenth position in the Ukrainian Premier League, picking up three points and one win combined with two defeats so far. They were not in action this past weekend, but come into this fixture on the back of four straight defeats including a 1-0 home loss to Kolos, a 2-1 away defeat to Paks and a 2-0 home defeat to LNZ all before their 3-0 loss in the first leg of this tie last week.

Fiorentina will be delighted with their 3-0 win over Polissya last week, especially as they played most of the game with ten men following Moise Kean sending off just before half time.
