Seventh seed Felix Auger-Aliassime returns to Marseille and will begin his campaign against the wildcard Quentin Halys. The two will battle in the first round with the winner going ahead to play either Zhang Zhizhen or Alexandre Muller. Felix Auger-Aliassime is having a shaky start to the season and has so far won four of seven matches. But as he is coming to a tournament he has shone at in the past, he will be confident of a strong showing. The Canadian, who is slowly getting back to full fitness after an injury-plagued 2023 campaign, has twice finished as runner-up here. Quentin Halys has also had an inconsistent start to the year. He has compiled a 2-2 record thus far. The Frenchman was last in action at the Davis Cup where he won his sole match without dropping a set. His other victory came at the Australian Open and this was only his second main-draw win at the major. Halys is making his Marseille debut. He is a strong indoor hard court performer and has compiled a 124-90 record on the surface. The 27-year-old's struggles have seen him drop out of the ATP top 100 again. He is now in position 101 in the live ranking.
