Felix Auger-Aliassime is the top seed in the Firenze Open. Four of the top six seeds have already been knocked out of the tournament so it's looking good for the Canadian. He received a bye into the second round and kicks off his week with a match against unseeded Oscar Otte. Aliassime began this week ranked 13th in the world but eighth in the ATP Tour Race. Eighth place won't earn him a place in the main draw of the Tour Finals with Novak Djokovic (10th) likely to go ahead of him as he's a Grand Slam winner this year. A couple of wins in this tournament will see him go above Taylor Fritz into seventh and that would be good enough. There's a lot at stake for the Canadian then.and he needs to recapture his August form. That saw him reach two quarter finals and a semi-final but he then lost in the second round of the US Open.

Oscar Otte is the world number 55 but up a place in the live rankings. The German beat Marton Fucsovics in the first round of this tournament. He had to come from a set down but won the next two for the loss of only six games. Otte was as high as 36th earlier this year but has been struggling for form in recent months. He is better on clay and grass courts and came into this tournament having won only one of his last six matches in singles tournaments. Back Auger-Aliassime to win this in straight sets.
