Seventh seeded Felix Auger-Aliassime takes on unseeded Borna Coric in the Cincinnati Masters quarter final. The winner of this match faces either third seeded Carlos Alcarez or ninth seed Cameron Norrie in the semi-finals. Aliassime is the world number nine but up to eighth in the live rankings. This is the third successive tournament in which he has reached at least the quarter finals. If he does face Norrie in the last four, it'll be the third tournament in a row the two have met.. The British player knocked Aliassime out of the Los Cabos tournament at the semi-final stage. Last week saw the Canadian get to the last eight in Montreal, losing to Casper Ruud but he did beat Norrie in the last 16. This week has seen him defeat Alex de Minaur (losing only five games) and then coming from a set down to defeat tenth seed Jannik Sinner in the last 16.

Borna Coric is down at 152 in the rankings and got into this event via a protected ranking. The Croatian was as high as 12th four years ago but has had injury problems since then. 2022 hasn't gone well for him with only four out of 12 matches won on the ATP Tour so far this year. He didn't play a tournament this year until Indian Wells in March and only won two of his first nine mathes on both the ATP Tour and Challenger Tour. Success that he has had this year has been in clay court tournaments with a title win in Italy in June. He also got to the last eight of the ATP Hamburg tournament in July. Last week saw him back on hard courts and he lost to Marin Cilic in Montreal. This week has gone much better though with wins over Lorenzo Musetti and then defeating Rafael Nadal in three sets and a straight sets win over Roberto Bautista Agut. He's 1-1 with Aliassime in previous meetings. Both matches were played in 2019 with the Canadian winning the match played on a hard court. Back Auger-Aliassime to get the win here.
