Sion will be keen on keeping their perfect start in the Swiss league going when they visit Luzern in their next game. The two sides, separated by five points, face off on Saturday in Round 3 of the Super League. Here’s our preview and a prediction for the match at the Swissporarena.
Luzern are still in search of their first win of the season. There was some improvement recorded in their last outing as they drew 2-2 with Grasshoppers though. Thibault Klidje scored a late leveler to save the hosts from a second straight defeat after their opening 2-1 loss to Servette.
Now as they seek three points, Luzern will know they need to do better defensively. They’ve conceded twice in both opening matches, extending the poor run they had at the end of last season.
While Luzern mull over their poor start, Sion are enjoying their ride so far, with two wins in as many games. They had the perfect start in the away game against Young Boys, beating the champions 2-1. There was no slowing down as they built on that win with a 4-0 thrashing of Lausanne-Sport in Game Week 2.
For now they are in second place, having played a game less than leaders Servette. This start is the response Sion fans needed after their promotion back to the Super League. In their last season in the topflight, Sion failed to win any of the last eight league matches.
Combining their top tier and second tier performances, Sion have now won six straight league matches. In two of their last three league meetings with Luzern, Sion emerged winners.
