FC Basel will welcome Grasshopper Zurich to the St. Jakob-Park in the 18th round of the Swiss Super League. FC Basel occupies second place in the league standings and is one point behind first-placed Lugano, while Grasshopper Zurich is anchored at the bottom of the table (12th place). FC Basel heads into this clash on the back of a 1-1 league draw against St. Gallen on the road. This result was well-earned, considering that they were at a numerical disadvantage following Bénie Traoré's red card in the 74th minute.

Despite failing to win any of their last two matches in the league, FCB has typified consistency going unbeaten in their last five matches (W3, D2). During this run, an impressive 14 goals have been scored stamping their status as the best offensive team in the league after 17 games (GF 40).

Grasshopper Zurich will be praying for another favorable outcome following a hard-fought 1-1 league draw against Yverdon at home. Before that, they lost 1-0 to FC Zurich in round 16 of the Swiss Cup. 

The Grasshoppers league form has been far from impressive. They have gone nine matches without a win, recording five losses and four draws.
