Seventh seed Fabian Marozsan takes on unseeded Alexander Shevchenko in round one of the Geneva Open. The winner will book themselves a match in round two against either Emil Ruusuvouri or Marcos Giron, both of whom are unseeded in this outdoor ATP250 clay court tournament. Marozsan is 41st in the live rankings and will be on a revenge mission in this match. That's because he lost in straight sets to Shevchenko in the first round of the Italian Open, the last tournament he's played. The Hungarian has only won two of his five matches played on clay this year. He's yet to show the form on clay that saw him win two Challenger Tour events last year and reach the fourth round of the Italian Open.

Alexander Shevchenko lost to the 16th seed Karen Khachanov in the second round of the Italian Open. Eager for more time on court before Roland Garros, he played in last week's Bordeaux Challenger Tour event in which he was the third seed. He lost in his first match to wild card Giovanni Mpetschi Perricard in three sets. Shevchenko is 61st in the live rankings but isn't enjoying the best of seasons on clay. He's only won three of his ten matches this year, one of them on the Challenger Tour. Ths looks like being a tight match between two players struggling to find some consistency.
