Qualifier Erika Andreeva will play wildcard Fiona Ferro in the first round of the Internationaux de Strasbourg. This will be the first career meeting between these two. Erika Andreeva is making her debut in Strasburg and so far so good for the teenager. She began her campaign in the qualifying rounds and won both matches without dropping a set. Both matches were against homegrown French players. Elisa Jacquemot was the first to fall in seven games and then Chloe Paquet was eliminated in eight. The two wins have boosted Andreeva’s record to 22-13 with six of her victories coming in 10 outings on clay. The Russian youngster is currently down to 102nd in the live ranking.

Fiona Ferro will begin another campaign in Strasbourg having moved up six places to 143rd in the live ranking. The Frenchwoman last played her two seasons ago and is gearing up for a fifth appearance. A 2019 quarter-finalist, Ferro is having a shaky season and has struggled on clay. She has won just one more match than the 12 she has lost and has compiled a 5-7 record on clay. Ferro is coming off a quarter-final run at the Paris 125K Challenger which is her best result this year. The 27-year-old former world number 39 is yet to win a main draw match at tour level. She lost in the first round in both Rouen and Melbourne and was eliminated in the qualifiers in Madrid and Rome. The winner here will play Anhelina Kalinina next.
