The 2025 World Cup of Darts heads into the knockout stage on Saturday, and the undoubted pick of the matches in the second round will see England take on Germany. England is the number one seed in the competition while Germany is seeded seventh. Let’s get into the match prediction.
England will make their first appearance at this year’s World Cup of Darts this weekend, as the top four seeds in the competition all received byes to the second round of the competition.
The English duo of Luke Humphries and Luke Littler are the number one and two ranked players in the world at present and are the odds-on favourite to defend their World Cup crown.
Littler is making his World Cup debut this year, replacing Michael Smith. However, he has come up against the German duo in singles matches and will be out to extend his nation’s four-match win streak.
Meanwhile, Germany got through the group stage with minimal fuss, beating Portugal 4-2 in their opening match before trouncing Singapore 4-0 in game two on Friday.
Despite failing to throw a single 180 in their last match, Martin Schindler and Ricardo Pietreczo managed a solid average (95.43) and pinned four of nine checkout attempts.
While Germany are the clear underdog in this contest, it is worth noting that they did beat the English in the 2023 World Cup following defeats in 2015 and 2021.
