The eighth and final matchday in the league phase of the 2025-26 UEFA Champions League sees 33rd-place Eintracht Frankfurt playing host to fifth-placed Tottenham. Will the Lilywhites book their spot in the round of 16 or will Die Adler deny them? Check out our match prediction below!
Frankfurt are already eliminated from this season’s UCL after losing five of their seven matches and will be playing solely for pride on Wednesday. Tottenham, meanwhile, have much more on the line as they are battling for a spot in the top eight, and thus automatic qualification to the round of 16.
Spurs are guaranteed at least a playoff spot with their 14-point haul putting them just one point above ninth-place Barcelona. There’s plenty of congestion in the middle part of the standings, with only three points separating Tottenham from 16th-placed Dortmund. For Spurs, it’s simple – win here and they’re guaranteed a spot in the top eight. A draw would also see them through to the round of 16 so long as five of a possible nine teams fail to win.

Eintracht Frankfurt - Tottenham: Form Analysis
Frankfurt come into this fixture off the back of a 3-1 home loss to Hoffenheim. The hosts took the lead after just 18 minutes but would capitulate in the second half, giving up three unanswered goals in the space of just 13 minutes.
It’s been a terrible run of form for Frankfurt who now have just a single victory in their last 11 across all competitions. A five-match winless run in the Bundesliga has seen Frankfurt slip nine points behind the top four positions and they are now in serious risk of missing out on next season’s UCL.
Frankfurt’s 19 goals conceded is tied with last-place Kairat for the most in the competition.
In the current Champions League campaign, Frankfurt’s only win came over Galatasaray (5-1), while losing to Atletico (5-1), Liverpool (5-1), Atalanta (3-0), Barcelona (2-1) and Qarabag (3-2).
As for Tottenham, they’ve been having a much better time of it in the Champions League compared to the Premier League. A 90th minute equaliser rescued a point in a 2-2 away draw with Burnley at the weekend, but it was yet another disappointing result for Thomas Frank.
They’re now winless in their last six domestic matches with the only victory during that time coming last week in a 2-0 home win over Dortmund. Spurs have won four, drawn twice and lost only once in this competition, putting themselves in an excellent position to secure automatic qualification to the round of 16.

Eintracht Frankfurt & Tottenham Squad Analysis
The downturn in form for Frankfurt resulted in the sacking of Dino Toppmöller on 18 January, with Dennis Schmitt taking over as interim as the club searches for a new manager. Schmitt will have to navigate an injury crisis as a number of his best players are sidelined. This includes the talented Jonathan Burkardt, wonderkid Can Uzun and on-loan striker Arnaud Kalimuendo, who is ineligible for this match.
The injury to Uzun is a particularly big blow for a squad that is already bereft of attacking quality due to injury.
Can Uzun has been one of Frankfurt’s best players with 12 goal contributions in 21 appearances
Jonathan Burkardt, who has been out since November, remains the team’s leading goalscorer with 10 goals. Ebnoutalib, Batshuayi, Baum and Chandler make up the rest of the injury list.
For the visiting Lilywhites, manager Thomas Frank could be without as many as eight players including James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, Lucas Bergvall and Rodrigo Bentancur. Richarlison will miss out with a hamstring injury while Mohammed Kudus is expected to be out for a few months with a muscle injury.
On the bright side, striker Dominic Solanke has returned to the first team and was among the goals in Spurs last UCL match, scoring his first goal since May 2025.

Our Eintracht Frankfurt vs Tottenham Prediction
Frankfurt will come into this match with no real pressure so they should be approaching this game with a certain gusto as they bid farewell to the competition. That could lead to an end-to-end type of match at the Deutsche Bank Park.
Despite Frankfurt dealing with an injury crisis to their attacking corps, they should still have enough about them to at least score once on home soil. Tottenham, for all their defensive problems, still possess the firepower to put a few past this vulnerable Die Adler defence. Our Frankfurt vs Tottenham prediction is more than 2.5 goals.Eintracht Frankfurt vs Tottenham Alternative Predictions
Tottenham to win
Frankfurt’s injury trouble has us leaning in favor of the visiting team, despite their overall struggles on the road in this competition this season. They should benefit from a Frankfurt team that has given up the joint-most goals in the Champions League.
