Defending champion Danill Medvedev is seeded third for this year's Miami Open. He takes on unseeded Dominik Koepfer for a place in the quarter finals. The winner will be up against either seventh seed Casper Ruud or 22nd seeded Nicolas Jarry. A win for Medvedev will take him into the quarter finals of this Masters 1000 outdoor hard court tournament for the third year in a row. The Russian is playing only his fourth tournament of the year but has already reached two finals and a semi-final. His most recent event saw him lose to Carlos Alcaraz in the Indian Wells final. He's fourth in the world rankings and third in the Live ATP Race. To get to this fourth round. Medvedev has beaten Marton Fucsovics and 30th seed Cameron Norrie, both in straight sets.

Dominik Koepfer was ranked 50th when this tournament got underway. He 52nd in the live list as he's defending the points won when winning a Challenger Tour event last year. The German is up to 32nd in the ATP Live Race. To reach the last eight he must beat Medvedev for the first time in his career. He's lost their previous two meetings, both played at the US Open in 2019 and 2021. Koepfer had never made it past round one in Miami before this year. He's changed all that with wins over Marcos Giron (after losing the first set), 18th seed Sebastian Baez (in straight sets) and then came from behind to beat 14th seeded Ugo Humbert. This looks a lot tougher though and we tip Medvedev to win in straight sets.
