Fifth seed Madison Keys and 12th seed Diana Shnaider will play each other in the third round of the 2026 Brisbane International. This is their third meeting, and the winner will set up a quarterfinal showdown with Aryna Sabalenka or Sorana Cirstea. Read on for our prediction of this match.

Diana Shnaider had a far better start to her return to Brisbane than she did in her previous two appearances. The Russian, who had never won a match here before this season, defeated Anastasia Potapova in her opening fixture.

She won by the loss of four games, posting the right start to the new year. Shnaider had a rather disappointing campaign last season. She ended with a 28-25 record and finished ranked outside the WTA’s top 20.

Madison Keys had a strong run in 2025 and returned to the WTA top 10. She finished the year as the seventh-best-placed player in the world, the first time she had finished a calendar year in the top 10 since 2016.

The American won 37 matches last term and became a major champion for the first time after winning the Australian Open.

After also winning in Adelaide, she will feel competing in Australia as a lucky charm, especially as she is a former Brisbane finalist. Keys defeated McCartney Kessler in straight sets in the last round.
