The Detroit Pistons and LA Lakers rekindle a classic rivalry on Monday, 20 years on from one of the most famous upsets in NBA Finals history. Detroit is sitting 13th in the East with a 2-5 record while the Lakers are fifth in the West at 4-2. Without further ado, let’s get right to the match prediction!
Detroit have somewhat unsurprisingly experienced a slow start to the 2024/25 season with two wins from their first seven games. However, there is certainly reason for optimism as the team has won two of the last three following an 0-4 start.
The Pistons locked down the Nets on Sunday night to secure a 106-92 victory. It marked the second time in the last three games that Detroit held an opponent to under 100 points.
It’s been a positive start to the campaign for the Lakers who came out of the gates by winning their first four games.
They’ve been powered by stellar play of a rejuvenated Anthony Davis who is certainly one of the early frontrunners for the MVP award. Davis is averaging 31.8 points per game on 57% from the field while also grabbing 12.2 rebounds and 2.2 blocks.
Los Angeles escaped from Toronto with a 131-125 win over the Raptors on Friday, snapping a two-game losing streak.
