Sunday sees the biggest game of the Irish Premier League season as Derry City seek to stop Shamrock Rovers from claiming the league title. Brandywell Stadium will be packed to the rafters as the Candystripes attempt to deny many a match prediction stating that the visiting Rovers will clinch the title at the home of their closest rivals. 

The league table makes it abundantly clear of the task facing the home side. Derry lie second in the table having played 34 games amassing 57 points. With two games remaining, they trail Shamrock by six points and have a 13-worse goal difference. Shamrock have played just 33 games and have 63 points, meaning they need just one point from their final three games to be assured of the title.

Derry come into this game as the form team however. They are unbeaten in eight games and that run includes a 1-1 draw away to Drogheda City, followed by a 1-0 home win over Sligo Rovers and then last week, Derry earned a 2-1 qin away at struggling Waterford to keep the title alive.

In contrast, Shamrock come into this game suffering a slump in form. Since beating Kerry 6-1 in the FAI Cup semi-final, they have lost their next three games without scoring a goal. That includes a 1-0 home reverse to Shelbourne followed by a 1-0 loss away to St. Patrick's Athletic and in midweek, they went down to a 2-0 defeat at home to Celje in the Europa Conference League.
