Fifth seed Daria Kasatkina faces unseeded Yulia Putintseva in the last eight of the indoor hard court Ningbo Open. For the winner, there's a semi-final against either sixth seed Beatriz Haddad Maia or eighth-seeded Paula Badosa. Time for our match prediction.

Daria Kasatkina is the world number 11 and a win over Putintseva will take her back into the top ten. The Russian is tenth in the WTA Live Race and still in with a chance of making it into the end-of-season Tour Finals.

Kasatkina reached the final of the Korea Open last month but in her last two tournaments has failed to make it past the last 16. One title has been won by her this year but that was on grass not hard courts.Two finals on this surface have been reached by her this year.

So far in Ningbo, Kasatkina has had a win over Katerina Siniakova but it was a struggle. Only one game was won in the first set but she recovered to win the next two for the loss of only five games.

Yulia Putintseva has had to play two matches to reach this quarter-final. Wins have come against Caroline Dolehide and lucky loser Ella Seidel. Only ten games have been lost in those two victories.

Putintseva is 32nd in the latest rankings but up four places in the live list. This is her first hard court quarter-final since Miami in March. Her most recent tournament was in Wuhan where she was beaten by Aryna Sabalenka but did take a set off her.

Before that loss to the world number two, Putintseva had beaten world number 18 Donna Vekic. These two players are 1-1 in previous meetings with Putintseva winning in Madrid this year. This is their first hard court match. We tip Putintseva to win..
