Daniil Medvedev is the ninth seed for the Cincinnati Masters and he has been in fantastic form over the past few weeks. This is his third final in a row but the other two both ended in defeat. Medvedev lost to Nick Kygrios in Washington and then to Rafael Nadal in the Rogers Cup. It looked as if he was going to be knocked out in the semi-final of this tournament as he went a set down to world number one Novak Djokovic. That was the first set he'd lost in this tounament.However, a brilliant comeback saw him win the next two sets to make a third staight final and this time he's the favourite to win.

 David Goffin is seeded 16th for this tournament but ranked 19th in the world. This is his second final of the year, the previous being the Halle tournament on grass where he lost to Roger Federer. He made it to the quarter finals at Wimbledon where in the third round he defeated Daniil Medvedev. That avenged his loss to the Russian at the Australian Open. Recent form hasn't been that great and in two events since Wimbledon, he was knocked out in his first match. This week has seen a dramatic return to form though he had to go to three sets to beat Taylor Fritz in the first round. Since then, Goffin has beaten Guido Pella and Adrian Mannarino in straight sets before a walkover victory against Yoshihito Nishioka (who had beaten him in the Rogers Cup) in the quarter finals. The last four saw him beat Richard Gasquet in straight sets. Go for Medvedev to continue his excellent form and win this final.
