Daniel Evans is set to meet a top 10 player for the 37th time in his career. The Briton will face off with Novak Djokovic in Round 2 at Wimbledon. This will mark the second match between the two, and the winner will advance to meet Jesper De Jong or Miomir Kecmanovic. Read on for our prediction.
Evans came into this competition as a wildcard and will be keen to make the most of it. The world No. 154 is coming from a 3-0 win in an all-British affair against Jay Clarke.
He can make huge headlines with a win here, though it won’t be the first. In their only meeting, back in 2021, Evans shocked Djokovic in a straight-set win at the Monte Carlo Masters.
Djokovic will not be guided so much by revenge but just a win to improve on a poor season by his standards. The Serbian has only won one title this year, in Geneva.
Having been in the last six final matches at Wimbledon, he will be the outright favorite here. The world No. 6 had some shaky moments in the first round but held on to beat Alexandre Muller in four sets.
That marked the fourth straight game in which he lost at least a set. In the last two majors, the French and Australian Open, Djokovic lost at the semi-final stage.

Our Daniel Evans vs Novak Djokovic Prediction
The last time Djokovic was eliminated in the second round at Wimbledon was in 2008. That was by a former top 10 player, Marat Safin. We don’t expect Evans to pull the same on the Serbian, who has reached 10 finals at Wimbledon in his career.
However, Djokovic’s levels have been dropping as age catches up. He comes here having lost at least a set in his last four matches, and Evans will see an opportunity in that. Our prediction for Daniel Evans v Novak Djokovic is for Djokovic to win in four sets.
