The 2025 New Zealand Darts Masters will bring us an intriguing opening round clash between Damon Heta and Dean Reyland. The winner of this match between The Heat and Reyland will move on to face either Luke Humphries or Haupai Puha in the next round. Let's get into the match prediction. 

Damon Heta has been enjoying an impressive run in the Players Championship over the last few months, but his form outside of the PC has been less impressive.

The Heat got off to a flying start at the Australian Darts Masters last week, recording the only whitewash victory of the opening round against James Bailey. However, he was unable to follow up against Luke Littler in round two.

Heta won 10 Player Championship games in a row at the start of August, but has only picked up one victory in his last five matches since then. 

Meanwhile, Dean Reyland’s journey to the New Zealand Darts Masters has been something of a fairytale. Not only has he never featured in a World Series event, but he has never even attended one as a fan. 

Reyland is the sole new face of the Oceania representatives at the tournament and runs a kiwifruit orchard full-time. He also revealed that after years of playing at lower levels, he was intending to retire from darts at the end of the year. 

The New Zealander overcame Alan Scayman in a 7-6 thriller during qualifying to earn his spot here at Auckland's Spark Arena among the PDC’s elite players.
