Coco Gauff vs Caroline Garcia Prediction & Betting Tips - US Open, New York, USA

Before this week, Coco Gauff had only reached the last eight at the French Open. The 12th seed faces Caroline Garcia (seeded 17th) for a place in the US Open semi-finals. Gauff reached the French Open final earlier this year but this is her first time past the third round in her home Grand Slam. Gauff is still only 18 years old but in the live rankings has moved up to a career high seventh and could make it to sixth if she wins this and Pegula loses to Kvitova. The teenager has reached the last eight in two of the three tournaments played in the lead up to this tournament. To get to the US Open quarter finals, Gauff has had four wins, all in straight sets. That includes beating the 20th seed Madison Keys in the third round.

Caroline Garcia came into this tournament fresh from winning the Cincinnati Masters. That was her third title of the year after previous successes in Bad Homburg and the Polish Open,. Those three wins came on clay, grass and hard courts, so the surface doesn't matter a great deal to her. Garcia is a former world number four (achieved in 2018) but surprisingly perhaps this is only her second Grand Slam quarter final. The other was at Roland Garros in 2017 and her previous best at the US Open has been four third round appearances. Garcia is in top form at present and is up to 12th in the live rankings. A win over Gauff will take her back into the top 10. The French player hasn't dropped a set in this tournament and only lost 20 games. To reach her first Grand Slam semi-final, Garcia needs to beat Gauff for the first time. Both previous meetings have been won by the American, the most recent in Doha this year. Garcia has improved since then though and can get the win here, possibly in three sets.
