Gerwyn Price has beaten Chris Dobey twice already in July. The pair face each other again in the last 16 of the 2025 World Matchplay Darts Championship. Will 'The Iceman' keep his cool against Dobey? Here's our match prediction.
'The Iceman' didn't live up to his nickname in his first round match against Daryl Gurney. He won 10-7 but there were some heated exchanges between the pair after the match. Price had an average of 100.21 in that match.
This is being played over 21 legs with the first to win 11 legs going through. In the quarter-finals, the victor will be up against either third seed Michael van Gerwen or unseeded Josh Rock.
Price has twice beaten Dobey this month, each win being by a four-leg margin. They shared their four matches in the Premier League (though Price finished ahead of him in the table) but Dobey did knock Price out of the 2025 World Championship.
Chris Dobey beat Ricardo Pietreczko 10-5 in round one but only averaged 90.95. He'll need to improve that if wanting to reach his second quarter-final in three years. 'Hollywood' was a semi-finalist in the last World Championship. Two Players' Championships have been won this year.
