Carlos Alcaraz is attempting to win his third consecutive indoor hard court title. The second seed takes on third-seeded Ben Shelton in the final of the Paris Masters. Alcaraz lost his most recent match to Shelton and looking at the stats, more than 9.5 games in set one is our prediction.
After winning last year's Tour Finals and the recent Erste Bank Open, Alcaraz has won his last 14 matches on this surface.
It's not been easy for him this week though with a tight win over Alex Michelsen and having to save two match points against Taylor Fritz. The semi-finals saw him beat unseeded Casper Ruud 6-4 6-4. More than 9.5 games have been played in the first set in seven of his last nine matches.
He leads Shelton 3-1 in previous meetings but Shelton won the most recent one this year.
There's been at least ten games in the opening set in their last three matches, two going to a tie-break.
Ben Shelton has won one indoor hard court title this year with a 10-3 record. He's won four matches this week, the last three all going to a deciding set. Saturday saw him beat Luca Van Assche after losing the opening set. More than 9.5 games have been played in five of his last nine matches.
