Cameron Norrie begins his Eastbourne International campaign looking for a confidence boosting run. He faces fellow unseeded player Emil Ruusuvouri in the first round of this grass court tournament. The winner will be up against either unseeded Jang Juncheng or the seventh seed Tomas Martin Etcheverry in round two. Norrie is down to 44th in the live rankings and he won't be seeded at Wimbledon when it starts next week. The former British number one was in the top 20 at the start of the year but has had an inconsistent 2024. He's reached two quarter-finals and a last four this year with two of those results achieved on clay. On grass, Norrie has reached the Wimbledon semi-final in 2022 but hasn't been firing on this surface so far. He lost to Jack Pinnington-Jones in a Nottingham Challenger Tour event with his opponent ranked 773rd at the time. Last week he lost in three sets in round one at Queen's Club, being beaten by heavy-serving Milos Raonic. His opponent broke the record for most aces served in a three-set match.

Emil Ruusuvpuri is also struggling and is 88th in the live rankings. He's 1-1 in previous meetings with Norrie but this is their first match on a grass court and they haven't played since 2021. Ruusuvouri has also been dropping down the rankings and was 37th in April 2023. This year began well with a final reached in Hong Kong but he's been struggling since March. On grass, he lost in the first round of the Surbiton Challenger Tour event. He's played at Wimbledon three times and only won one match. We tip Norrie to get the win.
