Macarthur FC will look to start positively as they travel to meet Brisbane Roar on matchday one of the 2025-26 A-League Men. This match at Suncorp Stadium between the Lions and the Bulls comes with our prediction of an away win.

Last season saw the Roar finish 12th with just 21 points (W5, D6, L15). They could only qualify for the play-offs of the 2025 Australia Cup, where they exited at that stage. Macarthur finished eighth in the regular season with 33 points (W9, D6, L11) and qualified for the ACF Champions League Two, where they missed out on the knockouts by a whisker.

Brisbane won six and drew two of their eight pre-season friendlies but will be desperate to start the regular season positively. They were very poor last season, and 15 defeats in the regular season were an apt reminder of their poor performances.

That was compounded by poor results even at home, as the Lions lost nine of their 13 home league games.

Macarthur narrowly missed out on progressing out of their group in the AFC Champions League Two, but that could be a blessing in disguise. The Bulls can now concentrate on living up to their status in the league, and having won six of their last ten away league trips, they will be a force to reckon with.
