Brighton and Hove Albion looked to be on their way to the top four on Wednesday evening. The Seagulls led Aston Villa 2-0 at home but ended up losing 4-3 and are now seventh. Sunday sees them host 18th-placed West Ham United. Read our match prediction below.
The home side are only a point behind the final Champions League position so not a bad position to be in at present. Conceding four goals at home isn't great news though and they certainly won't want a repeat of that anytime soon, especially not against relegation candidates.
That unfortunately is what West Ham are at present. Thursday saw the Hammers draw at Old Trafford but Leeds beating Chelsea in midweek was not a result they desired. West Ham begin the weekend two points from safety and that gap could be even wider by the time this game gets underway. With some difficult games on the horizon, West Ham may well still be in the bottom three at Christmas.

Brighton - West Ham: Form Analysis
Brighton slipped down to seventh in the Premier League after losing 4-3 to Aston Villa on Wednesday. That was the second time this season that they’ve led 2-0 at home and failed to win the game. Wednesday’s defeat was their first home league defeat of the season. Four of their seven home games have been won this season. They have earned three points in three of their last four home league games against West Ham.
Each of their six home league matches have seen over 2.5 goals scored with both teams scoring in all but one of them.
West Ham are in the relegation zone.
West Ham did well to come from a goal down to earn a 1-1 draw at Manchester United on Thursday. They remain in the bottom three though and they face a tough set of games this month. That includes Aston Villa, Manchester City and a return game against Brighton.
The Irons have drawn their last two league games with no win in three. Their last victory in the Premier League was a home win over Burnley on November 8. West Ham have gone five away league fixtures without a win. Five of their last six games have seen both teams score.

Brighton & West Ham Squad Analysis
Danny Welbeck has been in good scoring form for Brighton this season. He was only a substitute in the midweek game against Aston Villa but is expected to start on Sunday. That's because striker Stefanos Tzimas is likely to be out for a fair while due to a knee injury.
Welbeck loves playing against West Ham.
That happened in the first half against Villa. West Ham won't be pleased if Welbeck does play on Sunday. He's scored six goals against the Hammers, his best performance against any other Premier League side.
Due back this weekend is Yasin Ayari but Kaoru Mitoma, Tommy Watson and Georgino Rutter are all doubtful. Brighton will be hoping they can continue scoring plenty of goals but tighten up more at the back.
West Ham United will have Lucas Paqueta available for this match. He missed Thursday's trip to Manchester United due to him serving a one-match ban after beng sent off at Liverpool last weekend. He may replace Tomas Soucek in midfield.
Igor Julio can't play this weekend as he's on loan from Brighton. Crysencio Summerville is doubtful for this fixture and they will definitely be without Lukasz Fabiansk and Oliver Scarles. They will hope for more goals from Callum WIlson who has previously scored five goals against Brighton.
