Borussia Dortmund will be seeking to return to winning ways in the German Bundesliga when they host Cologne next. Three points separate the two after seven rounds of play, with Dortmund in fourth edging their sixth-placed visitors. Read on to find our prediction for this match.
Borussia Dortmund have lost a step in the race for this season’s league title in recent outings. Niko Kovac’s men have fallen seven points behind league leaders Bayern, having dropped points in their last two matches.
After a 1-1 draw at home with Leipzig, BVB were defeated 2-1 by Bayern in Der Klassiker last weekend. This left them on 14 points. Die Schwarzgelben were in action in midweek in the Champions League, where they earned a 4-2 victory away to Copenhagen.
Cologne will hope Dortmund’s European engagements in midweek give them an advantage here. Lukas Kwasniok’s men have stuttered in recent weeks and arrive for this game having won just one of their last five.
They were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Augsburg last time out. This unconvincing run of form has seen Die Geißböcke drop out of the Champions League places.
Another setback and they could find themselves out of the top six. Koln, who have lost three consecutive meetings with Dortmund, have amassed 11 points and are just three points clear of Bremen in 12th.
