Bianca Andreescu vs Alizé Cornet Prediction & Betting Tips - WTA National Bank Open

Bianca Andreescu caused a surprise in the first round of the Canadian Open. The world number 53 beat Daria Kasatkina in straight sets with her opponent being seeded 11th and winning in San Jose last week. Andreescu now takes on world number 40 Alize Cornet. The Canadian also played in San Jose last week but lost to Shelby Rogers in her first match. Andreescu reached the final of the Bad Homborg grass court tournament in June and the quarter finals of the Rome Masters on clay. Aside from that it's been an inconsistent year but she'd love to go deep in her home tournament.  To reach the third round against either Zheng Qinwen or fifth seed Ons Jabeur, she must beat Cornet for the first time in her career. The pair met twice last year with Cornet winning both in straight sets.

Alize Cornet has had a successful year with over a million dollars in prize money. Highlights of 2022 have been reaching the last eight of the Australian Open, the semi-finals in Bod Homburg and ending the unbeaten streak of Iga Swiatek at Wimbledon. It didn't go quite so well in Prague last week when losing to world number 112 Linda Noskova in the last 16. There were problems for her too in the first round of this tournament. Cornet had to come from behind to beat compatriot Caroline Garcia, who also beat her in Bad Homburg. Cornet does tend to blow hot and cold with several losses this year to players ranked outside the top 50. Back Andreescu to follow up her good first round win.
