Ben Shelton was a quarter-finalist in the Paris Masters tournament last year. In round three of this year's indoor hard court event, the third seed faces unseeded Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech. Shelton had a good second round win and our prediction is he will win this match in straight sets.
Either 12th seed Tommy Paul or unseeded Quentin Halys will be faced in the last 16.
Shelton beat Cameron Norrie in the first round and did so without losing a set. The American is fourth in the live rankings and that's 54 places above his opponent. He's also fourth in the ATP Live Race and has a 7-3 record on this surface in 2026. That includes winning the Dallas tournament.
Last week saw him lose to Jerome Kym in round two of the Swiss Indoors Championship with five tie-breaks in two matches. The one previous match between these players was won on grass by Rinderknech with both sets going to a tie-break. A side bet on one here could well win.
Arthur Rinderknech has had wins over Francisco Cerundolo (who retired in the deciding set) and Mattia Bellucci.
It's a return to form for him as he had lost his last four matches before this tournament, also losing to Kym last week.
