Defending champions Bordeaux Begles made an excellent start to the defence. The European Rugby Champions Cup holders are top of Pool 4 and this weekend are home to fourth-placed Scarlets. Time for our match prediction.
Bordeaux won 46-33 at Bulls last weekend to earn five points. It was a hard-fought win in South Africa as they trailed 33-22 at the break. Then they scored 24 points without conceding in the second half.
After this game, they host Northampton Saints (who they beat in last season's final) before an away game at Bristol. The Begles are sixth in Top 14 and have won four of their five home league games this season, only losing the other by a single point. Wins have come against Stade Rochelais, Montauban, Lyon and Aviron Bayonne. At least 30 points have been scored in three of their five home league matches.
Scarlets are rock bottom of the United Rugby Championship with one win and four defeats. They were beaten 17-16 at home in their opening match in this competition but did earn a bonus point for that narrow loss.
