Beatriz Haddad Maia is the 21st seed at this year's Wimbledon Championships. Round one of this grass court Grand Slam sees the Brazilian face unseeded Rebecca Sramkova. Here's our match prediction. 

Maia reached round three here last year and made it to the last 16 in 2023. This year started badly for the world number 21 with nine out of 11 hard court matches lost. Her form has gradually picked up on clay and now grass with a 7-8 record.

Last week saw her make it to the Bad Homburg quarter-finals. That run included a three-set victory over Elina Svitolina before being beaten by Jasmine Paolini. Maia leads her opponent 4-2 in previous meetings but this is their first grass court match.

The winner of this match will face either Harriet Dart or Dalma Galfi in round two.

Rebecca Sramkova failed to get through the qualifiers here on five occasions. Her main draw debut was last year but she lost in round one to Marta Kostyuk. That was the only grass court match that Sramkova played last year.

Currently at a career-high 36th in the rankings, the 28-year-old has a 5-3 record on grass this year. That includes a run to the last four in Nottingham.
