Barbora Krejcikova is playing her first tournament of the year. The seventh seed takes on unseeded Magda Linette in round one of the WTA 500 outdoor clay court tournament in Strasbourg, France. Here's our match prediction.
Krejcikova last played a tournament in November 2024. A back injury has caused her to not play until this week. At present, the Czech is 15th in the live rankings and will soon be defending her Wimbledon title.
The 29-year-old also won the Roland Garros title in 2021. However, she has lost in the first round in each of the last three years. Krejcikova also lost in the first round of this tournament last year.
Magda Linette is 33rd in the live rankings and has a bit of work to do to be seeded at Roland Garros. The Pole has won two clay court matches this year but lost the same number. Her most recent tournament was the Italian Open where she beat Maria Sakkari before losing to eventual runner-up Cori Gauff.
Linette will also head to Roland Garros hoping to end a winless run. Her last two French Opens have seen her beaten in the first round but she did win a clay title in Prague last year. We tip her to beat Krejcikova.
