The Atlanta Hawks and New Orleans Pelicans will lock horns at the State Farm Arena in the NBA on Wednesday. The Hawks (17-21) are 10th in the Eastern Conference standings, while the Pels (8-30) are bottom of the table in the West. Let’s get into the match prediction.

The Atlanta Hawks enter this match following back-to-back losses to the Toronto Raptors, and have now won just two of their last 11 games dating back to December 15 against the Sixers. 

Absolutely nothing clicked for the Hawks in their 118-100 Monday loss to the Raps, who exposed their defensive breakdowns. As a team, Atlanta shot just 39% from the field and 12 of 34 from range. 

Trae Young is questionable for this match, and as we saw in the last, the Hawks' offence loses structure in his absence. If Young is ruled out, the team will need Jalen Johnson and Zaccharie Risacher to step up. 

Meanwhile, the New Orleans Pelicans have been ice cold of late, and were handed their eighth consecutive defeat last night, when they were beaten 111-103 by the Los Angeles Lakers. 

Despite Trey Murphy’s monstrous 42-point showing, the Pels' defence has been non-existent far too often this season, and they are now averaging 122.8 PPG against - the third-most in the league.

The visitors are 2-13 on the road this season and were beaten by 17 when these sides met in New Orleans in November.
