Arthur Rinderknech is set to contest his first-ever fourth-round tie at a major. The Frenchman defeated compatriot Benjamin Bonzi in four sets to achieve this feat. He won the last three sets of that encounter by the loss of eight games after dropping the first set.

Rinderknech arrived in New York having lost four of six matches and with just three wins on hard courts. Advancing to this round has catapulted him up to 57th in the live ranking.

Carlos Alcaraz has never lost against Rinderknech. He has won all three of their battles, with his most recent success coming on his way to lifting another Queen’s Club crown.

The two first met at the 2021 US Open, where Alcaraz won in four sets. In their last two battles, Alcaraz has gone on to be crowned champion of that tournament.
