All week we've been waiting for another Sinner v Alcaraz final. However, 2024 runner-up Jakub Mensik beat Sinner in the last eight. On Friday, the sixth seed takes on unseeded Arthur Fils for a place in the final of the outdoor hard court Qatar ExxonMobil Open. Time for our match prediction.
Either top seed Carlos Alcaraz or fifth seed and defending champion Andrey Rublev will be faced in the final.
Jakub Mensik has won ten of his 12 matches this year. Last month saw him win the Auckland title. The Czech beat Jannik Sinner in three sets on Thursday, his second deciding set of the week.
Mensik is up to a career-high 13th in the live rankings. He won the only previous match against Fils played on this surface.
Arthur Fils is one win away from his first outdoor hard court final since winning the Tokyo title in 2024. The Frenchman missed several months last year due to injury but is enjoying a successful return.
After a quarter-final indoors in Montpellier, the 21-year-old has gone a round further in Doha. Wins have come against Kamil Majchrzak (in three sets), Quentin Halys and on Thursday, eighth seed Jiri Lehecka 6-3 6-3. He’s up to 35th in the live rankings
