Fifth seed Amanda Anisimova and 28th seed Anna Kalinskaya are set to play each other in the third round in Cincinnati. This will mark the second career meeting for the two, with the winner taking on Ekaterina Alexandrova or Maya Joint. Below is our prediction for the match.

Anna Kalinskaya had a shaky start to her return to Cincinnati and needed a decider to get the better of Peyton Stearns. Their second-round duel lasted for more than two hours and 30 minutes.

The Russian has struggled this year on hard courts and currently has compiled an 8-8 record on the surface. Kalinskaya, a winner of 17 matches this year, made the final in Washington three weeks ago. She has moved up to 33rd in the live ranking following the win over Stearns.

Amanda Anisimova is having quite the campaign this year. She has 33 of 47 fixtures, resulting in one WTA title in Qatar and two runner-up finishes at Queen’s Club and Wimbledon.

Her performances have seen her make an exponential rise in the world rankings, breaking into the top 10 and settling at number eight. Anisimova suffered an early exit in Montreal recently, failing to make another deep run in the event after last year’s runner-up finish.

The 23-year-old, who defeated Kalinskaya in Toronto last season, was handed a walkover in the last round.
