Fifth seed Ann Li will face qualifier Viktorija Golubic in the Nottingham Open quarter-finals, marking their third meeting. Our prediction backs Golubic, a three-time quarter-finalist here.

Li has done well to place her name amongst the remaining eight players this week. She, however, hasn’t looked particularly impressive in doing so, needing three sets to win both of her fixtures.

The American, who has fought her way back after an opening set loss both times, defeated lucky loser Taylah Preston in the last round. Despite this nervy run, Li will be confident of moving on to the semis as she has defeated Golubic before on grass.

The world number 29, whose season highlight is a semi-final run in Strasbourg, defeated Golubic last year in Wimbledon.

Golubic is having a superb week on her return to Nottingham and will hope to finally go all the way this time around. The Swiss star started her sixth campaign at Lexus Centre in the qualifying rounds.

She is now on a four-match winning streak. Golubic has also needed a decider to progress in both of her main draw fixtures. She defeated fellow qualifier Zeynep Sonmez in the last round.

A semi-finalist in Nottingham four years ago, Golubic has won over 50 matches on grass surfaces. Advancing to this round nudged the 33-year-old up five places to 71st in the live ranking.
