Top seed Andrey Rublev takes on unseeded Sebastian Korda in the Gijon Open final. Rublev began the week ranked ninth but is up to eighth in the live rankings. In terms of the ATP Tour live race, the Russian is in sixth place and a title win here will take him another step towards qualifying for the lucrative ATP Tour Finals. This is fourth final of the year and all the previous three have been won. It is his first final since April when winning the Serbia Open beating Novak Djokovic. To reach this final, Rublev has had wins over Ilya Ivashka in three sets (losing the middle one), fifth seeded Tommy Paul and unseeded Dominic Thiem.

Sebastian Korda was ranked 47th at the start of this tournament but is 36th in the live rankings. Winning this final will see him rise another place going above fellow American Reilly Opelka. This is only his third ATP Tour final with one title won on clay in the Emilia Romagna Open last year. Korda has had to battle his way to this first final. He has had two three set matches against third seed Roberta Bautista Agut in roud two and then a quarter final win over Andy Murray (second set lost 6-1). His first final of 2022 was reached thanks to a straight sets win over unseeded Arthur Rinderknech. He's had one previous match against Rublev, losing in straight sets in Miami last year.
