Daniil Medvedev is the ninth seed for the Cincinnati Masters and that makes him the second highest ranked player left in the tournament. Medvedev has been in good form in recent weeks reaching the finals in Washington and the Rogers Cup in his last two tournaments, losing to Nick Kygrios and Rafael Nadal. In the Rogers Cup, Medvedev beat top ten ranked players Karen Khachanov and Dominic Thiem. In the Race to London which includes just ranking points earned this year, he's sixth on the list. In this tournament, Medvedev has won three matches and is yet to drop a set.

Andrey Rubelev is ranked 70th in the world and had to qualify for this tournament. He's caused two shocks so far with wins over Nikol Basilashvili and then a straight sets victory over Roger Federer. Earlier this year he reached the final of the Hamburg clay court tournament and a Challenger event at Indian Wells. He's only had one previous match against Daniil Medvedev, that was three years ago on a hard court and he lost in straight sets winning just five games. The tip here is for Medvedev to continue his good run and win this match to reach a third straight semi-final.
