As we approach the fourth round at Wimbledon, we are starting to get real battles, with seeded players facing off. One such match will see Andrey Rublev square off with Carlos Alcaraz. It is the fifth meeting between them, and the winner meets Nicolas Jarry or Cameron Norrie in the quarter-finals. Read on for our prediction.

After dropping a set in each of the opening two rounds, Rublev finally won in straights in the third. He claimed a 3-0 win against Adrian Mannarino, extending his good run against French players and in the third round here.

The job ahead is tougher as he faces Alcaraz for the first time on grass.

Alcaraz hasn’t brought his ruthless nature to this major; he has seemed lackluster at given points. In his three matches so far, the Spaniard won in straight sets just once, against a low-ranking qualifier, Oliver Tarvet.

He lost the second set in his third-round, four-set win against Jan-Lennard Struff. That was the third set in three matches at Wimbledon that the two-time champion has dropped.

Across his last five matches, the world No. 2 has dropped sets three times. 

Alcaraz has a 21-2 record at Wimbledon, has, this season, won five titles and hasn’t lost a fourth-round match.
