Top seed Andrey Rublev will be looking for a return to form in this week's Croatian Open in Umag. He takes on unseeded Camilio Ugo Carabelli in round two of this clay court tournament. The winner goes into a quarter-final against either Fabian Marozxan, Thiago Monteiro or seventh seed Thomas Machac.
Rublev will be in the upcoming Paris Olympics tournament but as an individual neutral athlete. The world number nine can climb into eighth if reaching the last four of this tournament. He's only 12th in the Live ATP Race.
He badly needs a good run this week after losing his last four matches. Last week saw him play in Bastad and he lost in his first match to Thiago Tirante. His last deep run in a tournament was in Madrid three months ago when he won the title.
Camilo Ugo Carabelli is ranked a career-high 96th in the latest published list. He's up to 90th after a first round victory over Croatian wild card Luka Mikrut. His opponent is 350th in the rankings and Carabella beat him in straight sets, losing seven games.
Carabelli also played in Bastad last week and lost to the then world number 182 Henrique Rocha in three sets. His best results have come on the Challenger Tour and earlier this month he got to the final of a clay court tournament held in Karlsruhe.
He's won two clay court titles on the Challenger Tour but before this week had won just one ATP Tour main draw match. That was back in Buenos Aires five months ago. We tip Rublev to get a straight sets win here.
