Amazulu will play hosts to a struggling Cape Town Spurs in the PSL on Friday evening. The hosts are currently tenth in the league standings, while the visitors are at the foot of the table. Amazulu snapped up a three-match losing streak with a hard-fought 1-0 win against Sekhukhune United last weekend. That result took them to 18 points after 14 matches, seven points behind third-placed Orlando Pirates. The Heroes have struggled in attack this season, currently the joint-lowest scoring (10) in the top flight. However, they have balanced that with one of the best defences, who have kept five clean sheets in eight home matches this term. The hosts won the last match against this opponent 2-1 at this venue and are clear favourites to do likewise in this one.
Meanwhile, Cape Town Spurs’ (formerly Ajax Cape Town) emotional return to the premier division in South Africa is steadily turning into something of a nightmare. The Urban Warriors have earned just three points in 14 games this season and look destined for the drop unless they can turn things around in the second half of the season. The Parow-based club suffered their 13th league defeat last weekend against the league leaders Sundowns 3-0. That marked their fifth consecutive loss since their sole victory this term against Pirates at the start of November. Spurs have already shipped 30 goals this season, which is the worst in the league by some distance - the second-worst defence has been Royal AM, who have conceded 19.
