World No.2 Alexander Zverev will be back on the court to take on Matteo Berrettini at the Monte Carlo Masters. The two are clashing in the second round with the winner set to meet Jiri Lehecka or Lorenzo Musetti. Read on for our prediction of the match.

This will be the seventh meeting between the two players. Zverev makes his ninth appearance at this event, seeking to better his semi-final finishes in 2018 and 2022.

It hasn’t been a great season for the German whose loss at the Australian Open remains the season’s highlight. Zverev hasn’t managed more than two wins in the five tournaments he entered after that. He comes into this one with a 14-6 record.

Berrettini knows of Zverev’s troubles and will enter this game seeking to frustrate the top seed. He comes to Monte Carlo off the back of a solid showing in Miami, where he graced the quarter-finals.

The Italian started his Monte Carlo campaign with a straight-sets win against Mariano Navone in the first round. That gave him some momentum, having now won four of his last five matches.

Berrettini’s struggles against top players is, however, well documented. Each of his last four losses were against top-10 players. The 28-year-old has also suffered four defeats in the six matches against Zverev.
