Alexander Bublik is the talk of town in Halle after eliminating defending champion Jannik Sinner in the second round. The prize for the Kazakh after that is a quarter-final meeting with Czech No. 2 Tomas Machac. We have the prediction for this second match between the two.

In three sets, Bublik executed revenge on Sinner for the straight-sets defeat in Roland Garros. That result meant that for the 10th straight year, no player will be able to defend the Halle title.

Bublik himself is a former winner here and has now set his path to a second title clearer. The last time he reached a grass semi-final was in a run that also included beating Sinner in Halle in 2023.

Bublik’s win over Sinner has made Machac’s first back-to-back wins since Miami a low-key affair. The Czech player overcame Jesper De Jong in the first round and then beat Fabien Marozsan last time out.

The last time he won two straight games was in March, a period he also won his one and only title for the season in Acapulco. With such a run, it goes without saying he is the underdog here.

He has suffered five defeats in the last eight matches, and facing a player fresh from eliminating the world No. 1 will call for a lot. In their only meeting, Machac lost in three sets.
