This is an indoor hard court tournament and Aleksandar Kovacevic will hope to repeat the good form he showed in October 2023. He won a hard court Challenger Tour title 12 months ago and that's the surface this ATP 250 event is being played on.
Kovacevic was 76th in the last rankings but with points being dropped is down to 90th in the live rankings. He's struggling for form though with each of his last five matches being lost. The most recent saw him lose in the first round of the Shanghai Masters to Terence Atmane.
His last three matches have all seen a tie-break played. A side bet on one in this match may well prove to be a profitable one. He's had one previous match against Stricker, losing to him in a hard court Challenger Tour event two years ago.
Stricker is currently 317th in the live rankings. His career-high is 88th achieved last October but he was injured soon after that and didn't play his first match this year until June. He only won one of his first seven matches this year, though they were played on clay and grass.
On hard courts, the 22-year-old has reached a Challenger Tour quarter-final but is yet to win two successive matches in an ATP Tour event on this surface. This month has seen him lose to JJ Wolf in a Challenger Tour event, retiring in the first set.
