Qualifier Brandon Nakashima takes on Alejandro Tabilo for a place in round two of the Miami Open. A match against 11th seed Grigor Dimitrov awaits the winner in round two of this outdoor hard court Masters event. Nakashima was ranked 92d in the latest list and had to qualify to get into the main draw. The American had to go to three sets to get past Michael Mmoh in his first qualifier after only winning two games in the first set. His final qualifier against Terence Altmane was 1-1 in the first set when his opponent retired. Nakashima has been in good form on the Challenger Tour reaching one final and two semi-finals.  His only ATP Tour event of the year saw him beat Christopher Eubanks at Indian Wells but then lost to Jiri Lehecka in round two despite winning the first set. 

Alejandro Tabilo is at 44th in the rankings and has won one title this year. He won the Auckland outdoor hard court tournament held in January The Chilean had to go through seven rounds to win that title, though one of his opponents (Cameron Norrie) didn't make it onto court due to injury. Tabilo didn't build on that though and lost in the first round of the Australian Open. He had an inconsistent time on clay winning one out of three matches before a run to the final in Chile. Back on hard courts, Tabilo lost in the second round at Indian Wells to Taylor Fritz.  This looks like being a close match and we predict a three-setter.
